Music has been a life-long fascination for me… it’s that  ingenious interplay between the anatomy of a musical instrument and its distinct sound, or ‘voice’ that has always captured my imagination. I have let this stir and challenge me over two decades, hand making woodwind and stringed instruments.

Always pursuing excellence in instrument design, I have studied and measured many historical musical instruments and made various examples in the tradition of the old makers.

Crafting musical instruments that are appreciated for their unique playability is always rewarding. My hope is to leave a legacy of great instruments that survive well beyond my lifetime.

From my Castlemaine workshop, I make and repair woodwind instruments including Period Flutes and Irish Whistles.

With as many years dedicated to Guitar building, I also make and repair Guitars and Ukuleles.

If you have ever wanted to make a Guitar or Ukulele of your own, please join me at the workbench! I instruct a rolling program of Guitar Building Workshops and Ukulele Building Workshops in Castlemaine.

Then there’s the Italian Project. This is a small-group tour and cultural experience like no other in Italy’s beautiful Veneto region with 10 amazing guitar building days to enjoy in the heart of fair Verona!

Instrument making is a rewarding journey of discovery. I am continually inspired by the ‘masters’ of this trade and the fine musicians who keep me making!
